Vincent Van Gogh Sunflower Bulletin Board
“The more I think it over, the more I feel that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people.” -Vincent Van Gogh
Whatever time of year, sunflowers will make your hallway SHINE! I had my 6-8th grade students use https://sketchpad.app to create their sunflowers on 11x8.5 on a Google Slide (for easy printing). We talked through some of Van Gogh’s sunflowers and noticed how many of them are painted dried up with many missing their petals. They have various shades of yellow, even blotches of brown, greens and oranges. I really wanted a variety of different designs. I demonstrated how to find and use the paintbrush tool and the spirograph tool which some students chose to use.
Many students chose the paintbrush to draw with.
I also highlighted the Spirograph tool for symmetry options.

Here is the link to download the biography poster. You can also download a stack of my sunflowers if you’re looking to put the display up quickly. I bought a few yards of yellow jute for the bottom fabric and drew the large vase from brown bulletin board paper. Highly recommend printing the flowers on cardstock. Also, if you’re doing this with a class, I recommend creating one shared Google slide deck with slides enough for each student. Give each student a number and have them insert their completed flower on their assigned slide. This makes helps make printing a breeze.
